Active Server Page

Active Server Pages have ASP scripts embedded in them. ASP scripts embedded in the pages are run by the web server and changed to HTML before sending them to client browser. ASP pages have extension "asp".

ASP pages are mostly used for those pages which have dynamic content. For example, an ASP page may authenticate the information provided by a user and provide him with a customized page. ASP scripts are written in the Visual Basic Programming Language. ASP technology was developed by Microsoft.
